BYU Television to broadcast Hinckley funeral globally

Advertiser Staff

The funeral for Gordon Hinckley, president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, has been set for 8 a.m. Saturday.

BYU Television will provide coverage with special programming honoring the life and legacy of President Hinckley both before and after the funeral, which will be broadcast via satellite in 69 languages to more than 6,000 church buildings globally.

Hinckley, 97, was the 15th president in the 177-year history of the church and had served as its president since 1995. Expressions of sympathy can be e-mailed to condolences@ldschurch.org and in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the church's Perpetual Education, Humanitarian or Missionary funds, or the Gordon B. Hinckley Chair of British Studies at the University of Utah.
