Mauna Kea weather report: Cold with a chance of snow

It's a very chilly night atop Hawai'i's highest point.At 2 a.m,, temperatures at the seven telescope facilities providing weather information ranged from a low of 15.9 degrees at the NASA Infrared Telescope at an elevation of 13,675 feet to 20.8 degrees at the University of Hawai'i 2.2 Meter telescope.
The overnight forecast published by the Mauna Kea Weather Center said, "Fog, ice, high humidity, clouds and flurries will continue to plague the summit throughout the night; there is also a chance for heavy snow."
Back down closer to sea level, Hilo International Airport was reporting 63 degrees at 2 a.m. with thunderstorms, heavy rain, fog and mist.
