Thunderstorms possible throughout Hawaii today

An upper-level low pressure area above the Islands will result in unstable atmospheric conditions across the state today, according to the National Weather Service.This instability along with abundant low-level moisture, will cause locally heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms, forecasters said.
A strong high-pressure area north of the state will generate gusty trade winds through this weekend.
Here's what to expect during the next few days:
Today: Scattered showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 77. Breezy, with east wind around 23 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Tonight: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 70. Breezy, with east wind around 20 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
Thursday: Showers likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 80. Breezy, with east wind around 23 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
Thursday night: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 69. Breezy, with east wind around 20 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.
