Gov. Linda Lingle has released $135,000 to make improvements to the Thelma Parker Memorial Public and School Library in Waimea on the Big Island.

The money will be spent on improving sidewalks, ramps, restrooms, parking and doorways, and will also go for repairs to plumbing and electrical systems, fire and security alarms, and sewer, water and drainage systems, a news release said.

Lingle has already released $186,000 in design and construction funds for the project, which is expected to cost a total of $321,000. Construction is scheduled to begin in August and be completed in December, the release said.
