Big Isle to host founder of Jewish Renewal Movement

A panel discussion, "Healing Our World/Healing Our Souls" will be presented by Congregation Kona Beth Shalom at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday the University of Hawai`i at Hilo campus, room UCB 100 .
Keynote speaker will be founder of the Jewish Renewal Movement, Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi. Also on hand will be UH-Hilo professors Thom Curtis, a sociologist studying the impact of terrorism on the lives of Israelis; Douglas Mikkelson, a history and comparative religion scholar; and
Steven Worchel, a psychologist studying conflict resolution in the Middle East and throughout the world.
KBS is sponsoring the rabbi and his wife Eve Ilsen, on their visit to the Big Island, which includes leading a Shabbaton, an entire weekend (February 15-17) of religious services, prayer, workshops, and music.
