Two Kalihi men suspected of purse-snatching

Advertiser Staff

Two Kalihi men arrested yesterday in Waipahu in connection with a bus stop purse-snatching were still in custody but uncharged this morning at the main police station cellblock.

Witnesses identified a 24-year-old Mayor Wright Homes man to police as the suspect who allegedly stole the purse of a 53-year-old woman at a bus stop at about 7 a.m. No force was used, according to police.

The suspect ran to a waiting car, driven by a 28-year-old resident of Linapuni Street.

Witnesses provided police with a description and the license number of the getaway vehicle. Police located the car and arrested the two men for first-degree theft at Farrington Highway and Kahuali'i Street.

The stolen purse was on the front-seat passenger's side floor of the car, police said.
