UH posts job opening for athletic director

Advertiser Staff

The University of Hawai'i yesterday officially posted a notice seeking applicants for an athletic director to replace Herman Frazier, who was fired Jan. 8.

Review of applications will begin Feb. 14.

The notice, posted at the school's Web site, said, "The Director of Athletics is responsible for the overall management of the state's only Football Bowl Subdivision athletics program at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa campus.

"The Director of Athletics reports to the Chancellor, University of Hawai'i at Manoa, and is responsible for the sound fiscal management of the more than $26 million a year general operating budget design."

Frazier was fired one day after football coach June Jones left for Southern Methodist University, and associate athletic director Carl Clapp was appointed interim AD.

UH-Manoa Chancellor Virginia Hinshaw told The Advertiser last week the school hoped to name a new AD "within the next four to six weeks."
