WAILUKU
Higher water and sewer rates will kick in today

New rates for county water and sewer services go into effect today.

Water rates will increase by $2.75 a month for the average household, with larger increases for those who use larger volumes of water.

Sewer rates will increase up to $3.80 a month for a single-family residence.

County officials said the rate increases are expected to generate approximately $5.4 million in additional revenues. The money will be used to offset increases in electrical expenses, debt service, operations and maintenance, and to fund capital improvement projects, including water source development.
