Advertiser Staff

If you were in Hilo yesterday and it felt a bit warmer than usual, you were not just having hot flashes.

The mercury peaked at 89 degrees, making it the warmest July 1 on record in Hilo, the National Weather Service said.

The new high temperature mark broke the old record, set on July 1, 1980, by two degrees.
