Weather: Mostly sunny with a few isolated showers

A high pressure area building north of the state will produce increasingly strong trade winds over the islands, according to the National Weather Service forecast for today.

What clouds and showers there are will stay primarily on the windward side of most islands.

Here's how the start of the three-day weekend is shaping up:

Today: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 86. East wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Tonight: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a low around 73. East wind around 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Independence Day: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 85. East wind around 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Friday Night: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a low around 73. East wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Saturday: Isolated showers before noon. Partly cloudy, with a high near 85. East wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 72. East wind around 11 mph.
