Swimmer Sun finishes 11th in 200 back semifinals

Former 'Iolani and Stanford swimmer Hongzhe Sun finished 11th in the 200-meter backstroke semifinals today at the U.S. Olympic swimming trials at Omaha, Neb.

The top eight advanced to tomorrow's finals. Sun finished in 1 minute, 59.68 seconds. Aaron Peirsol won the semifinals in 1:55.78.

Sun's time of 2:01.01 this morning was good for the 15th of 16 spots in the semis.

Sun also advanced to the semifinals in the 100-meter backstroke, which he finished 11th in with a time of 54.47. The top eight advanced to the final, which was won by Peirsol in a world-record time of 52.89.
