NBA: Beasley returns to practice after chest bruise

Associated Press

MIAMI — Michael Beasley returned to practice with the Miami Heat today, one day after the No. 2 overall pick in last week's NBA draft was knocked out of his first official summer-league workout with a chest bruise.

Beasley was inadvertently elbowed by a teammate during a defensive drill about 45 minutes after Miami opened its summer-league camp yesterday morning. He was taken to a doctor for evaluation and treatment, and did not participate with his summer Heat teammates in practices last night or this morning.

Beasley returned for a non-contact session this afternoon, the team said.

He is listed as day-to-day, and is still expected to take part in summer league, which opens Monday in Orlando.

The forward averaged 26.2 points and a college-best 12.4 rebounds this past season as a freshman at Kansas State, and signed his first pro contract with the Heat yesterday.
