'GISELLE' ON STAGE

Tickets are on sale for the ballet "Giselle," presented by Ballet Hawaii, at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 16 and 2 p.m. Aug. 17 at the Blaisdell Concert Hall.
New York City ballet stars Tiler Peck, in the title role, and Joaquin De Luz, as Albrecht, headline the concert. Themes of eternal love and deceit fill the tale of a village girl who falls for a nobleman.

TRADITIONS OF OKINAWA

"LooChoo nu Kwa: Children of LooChoo," a music and dance concert that showcases the traditions of Okinawa, takes the stage at Mamiya Theatre, Saint Louis School, at 2 p.m. Aug. 24.
It tells the story of Kaleo, a fourth-generation teenager of Hawaiian and Okinawan descent, who finds cultural connections to his deceased grandmother.
"LooChoo" premiered in Uruma City, Okinawa; and made its Hawai'i debut in March at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center. It's presented by Honolulu-based Ukwanshin Kabudan, which strives to preserve Okinawan traditional arts.
