Author talks with interfaith group

Interfaith Conversations Windward, a chapter of the All Believers Network, will hold an interfaith conversation with Al Bloom, author of "A Life of Serendipity, Blown by the Wind of Amida's Vow," at 1 p.m. Monday at the Pohai Nani's Blue Room, 14th floor, 45-090 Namoku St.

Bloom, professor emeritus of the department of religion at the University of Hawai'i, is a Shin Buddhist priest, scholar and author of several books on Buddhism.

SUMMER SESSION AT BUDDHIST CENTER

The Buddhist Study Center, at 1436 University Ave., is hosting an evening summer session, "Coping with Life and Death, Buddhist Style," 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. July 28-Aug. 8.

Carl Becker, a professor of religion and ethics at Kyoto University graduate school in Japan, will lead the session.

Cost is $40 for the 10 days (includes the final night dinner and materials). A day rate of $5 is also available.
