Silent march Tuesday to honor slain mother, child

Advertiser Staff

A silent march will be held Tuesday to honor Grineline "Elaine" James, 39, and her son, Michael, 7.

They were killed over the June 28-29 weekend by her husband in their Mililani Mauka home.

The Hawaii State Coalition Against Domestic Violence will lead the march, which will begin at 5:30 p.m. in front of the state Capitol.

"The march honors Grineline and Michael and gives testimony regarding the community's commitment to educate and eliminate violence against women," according to a news release issued today.

The march will be silent to represent the fact that "another woman and her child has been silenced by domestic violence," the release stated.

Metered parking will be available at the Alapai Street Parking Garage and beneath the Capitol building.
