Hawaiian Airlines flew nearly 78,000 more passengers in June due in large part to the shutdowns of Aloha Airlines and ATA Airlines.

The state's largest carrier said it served a total of 694,348 passengers on its trans-Pacific and interisland service last month. That was up 12.6 percent from June 2007's 616,419.

Hawaiian, which expanded its service in wake of the closure of ATA and Aloha, said its planes were 81.5 percent full last month, which was down from the year-earlier's 87 percent.
