Weather: Heavy afternoon showers possible again

Light trade winds will continue today with afternoon sea breezes forming over the leeward areas of most islands, the National Weather Service said.

Rainfall will be generally light in windward and mauka areas, but there is a possibility of isolated heavy showers over some leeward areas again this afternoon, forecasters said.

Moderate northeast winds are expected from Friday into Saturday, but will likely diminish again later in the weekend when a weather system approaches the state from the east.

Here's what to expect for the next few days:

Today: Scattered showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 87. East wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Tonight: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a low around 74. East wind around 17 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 86. East wind between 13 and 17 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph.

Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 73. East wind around 16 mph.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 87. East wind around 9 mph.

Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 73. East wind around 9 mph.
