What are you most proud of?

"We have seven alumni who have returned to teach at our school," Scofield said.

"When the school was established, one of the many benchmarks I established for myself was that when our graduates returned to teach here, the journey would have gone full circle. These teachers, along with the rest of the faculty, will continue to carry on past traditions, implement current strategies to address challenges and provide hope for the future.

"I am also proud of our creative students. We have a student body with diverse needs and learning styles."

What is your biggest challenge? "As a school, we have not met the criteria for Adequate Yearly Progress in math and reading proficiency for all students," Scofield said. "This year, we ... will work ... toward greater math and reading proficiency levels as measured by the Hawai'i State Assessment. We want better results. We know our current reality. We want a plan in place, and we believe we can do it."

Special events: Student council, Tech Challenge, Hawaiian Language Immersion Program.

History: The school opened in 1995.
