Marion Lyman-Mersereau's new book "Eddie Wen' Go: The Story of the Upside-Down Canoe" will be released July 25 at Native Books/Na Mea Hawai'i, with a cast reading and other entertainment.

The children's book, written by a former Hokule'a crewmember, explores what really happened to surfer Eddie Aikau almost 30 years ago when the voyaging canoe capsized and Aikau paddled out to help and was never seen again.

The book comes with a companion read-aloud CD.

The reading begins at 6 p.m. the Ward Warehouse Amphitheater, featuring a cast that includes the author, Jen Hong, Paris Priore-Kim, Evelyn Kam, Danny Lyman, Chris Medeiros and Hattie Phillips.

Danny Carvalho and Mihana Souza will provide musical entertainment.

The store will be open afterward for light pupu and a book signing.
