Advertiser News Services

Punahou senior Maddison McKibbin was named to one of two U.S. boys teams that will compete at the Swatch FIVB 2008 Youth World Championships for beach volleyball at The Hague, Netherlands.

The tournament is July 30 to Aug. 3.

McKibbin of Honolulu will team with Will Montgomery of Santa Barbara, Calif. The other U.S. boys team is Tony Ciarelli of Huntington Beach, Calif., and Jeff Carlson of Newport Beach, Calif. Two girls teams also will compete.

"I think this trip to Netherlands will be very valuable experience for these young athletes. I truly believe they all have the potential to be top pro beach players some day if they choose to go down that road," said Danalee Corso, USA Volleyball's master coach for beach programs.

Corso is a 1989 graduate of Punahou.
