2 girls escape from youth facility in Kailua

Two wards of the state escaped today from the Hawai'i Youth Correctional Facility's Observation and Assessment Cottage for girls in Kailua.
The girls, 17 and 16, escaped during a disturbance in the cafeteria at 5:25 p.m., police said.
O&A is a freestanding living unit on Kalaniana'ole Highway. The girls were still at large as of 9:15 p.m.
