KALIHI
Fund awards $10,000 to immigrant aid center

The Family Violence Prevention Fund has awarded $10,000 to Na Loio, an immigrant rights and legal center in Kalihi.

The money is in recognition of Na Loio's programs to curb domestic violence in immigrant populations.

"We are proud to provide this award to Na Loio for its remarkable work to prevent violence and help women and children throughout the state," said fund President Esta Soler. "This small investment has the potential to make a tremendous difference, helping Na Loio support victims, advocate for change, and reform policies and systems."

Na Loio was founded in 1983 and offers legal services, case management, community education and advocacy. About half of the nonprofit's clients are immigrant victims of domestic violence, human trafficking or other crimes.

Na Loio Executive Director Pat McManaman said the Family Violence Prevention funding will "help Na Loio to secure legal immigration status for these vulnerable victims and to reduce barriers to the services they need."
