93rd HFD recruit class graduates Friday

The Honolulu Fire Department's 93rd Fire Fighter Recruit Class will graduate Friday at McCoy Pavilion, Ala Moana Regional Park.

Ceremonies start at 9:45 a.m. and will end at about 11:30 a.m.

Members of the 93rd recruit class are:

Aaron D. Acosta, Isaiah H.H. Aipa, Micah C. Ancheta, Dean S. Baldeviso, Koa Morrell Beasley, Frederick M. Castillo Jr., Kaiolohia K.O. Chapman, Brent K. Dillabaugh, Alexander P. Garcia, Michael P. Hahn, Michael Hann, Barney P. Hanson, Reece K. Ishihara, DeRoy K. Lavatai, Mark R. Masutomi, Vail K. I. Minn, Davis H. Oshiro, Bryan T. Rooney, Christopher K. Smith, Eddy K. Song, and Aaron Y.E. Yano.

The class completed 24 weeks of training and now possess National Registry of Emergency Medical Technician-Basic, International Fire Service Accreditation Congress Fire Fighter I, hazardous materials awareness, and hazardous materials operations certifications.

Besides studying and developing skills in fire fighting, rescue procedures, emergency medical service, and hazardous materials response, the recruits found time to perform a community service activity for the American Red Cross at the fifth annual "Hats Off to the ARC" event in March.

The new fire fighters will report to their assignments on Sunday.
