Big Island sex assault suspect at large

A grand jury warrant has been issued for the arrest 28-year-old Big Island indicted Thursday on multiple counts of sex assault involving a minor.

Mauro Martin Ortiz is accused of seven counts of first-degree sexual assault, five counts of third-degree sexual assault, and kidnapping. The alleged sex assaults occurred June 22 in the Hawaiian Paradise Park subdivision of lower Puna.

Ortiz is still at large and police believe he may be in the Kona or South Kohala area.

Ortiz is 5-foot-6 and weighs about 180 pounds.
