Weather: Sunny with a few isolated showers

Light trade winds carried isolated showers across the islands earlier this morning, the National Weather Service said.

A high pressure area strengthening far north of the state during the next few days will bring slowly increasing trade winds, forecasters said.

Trade wind showers may increase a bit over the usual windward and mauka areas this weekend, according to the forecast.

Here's how the rest of the work week is shaping up:

Today: Isolated showers after noon. Partly cloudy, with a high near 88. East wind around 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Tonight: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a low around 73. East wind around 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Thursday: Isolated showers after noon. Partly cloudy, with a high near 86. East wind around 16 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Thursday Night: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a low around 74. East wind between 13 and 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Friday: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 87. East wind around 16 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Friday Night: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 73. East wind around 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
