Truck roll causes H-1 standstill

Advertiser Staff

West O'ahu motorists endured more than three hours of standstill traffic on the H-1 Freeway's east-bound lanes yesterday afternoon after a large truck overturned near the Kunia off-ramp.

The incident was reported at 4:42 p.m. and the roadway was cleared at 8:11 p.m., police said.

A Rolloffs Hawaii truck overturned in the freeway's left lane near the Kunia off-ramp, police said.

Police reported that the accident prompted the closure of two freeway lanes, but motorists said traffic did not move at all for long periods and that the backup extended to Kapolei.

Several motorists said many people turned off their engines and got out of their vehicles during the long wait.
