State sheriff's deputies assigned to the U.S. Marshal Service's Hawai'i Fugitive Task Force last night arrested an escapee from Washington state in Kihei, Maui.

Ian Morgan is being held at the police cellblock in Wailuku.

Morgan, who was convicted of third-degree sex assault, escaped from a community corrections center in Seattle. He faces charges under the Adam Walsh Act for failure to register as a sex offender in addition to escape.

Washington State Corrections received an anonymous tip on Tuesday that Morgan was living in Hawai'i and advised local authorities. Morgan was arrested at 6 p.m.
