A fallen tree has caused power lines to come down on Kawailoa Road, cutting off the only way into Lanikai.

The incident was reported at 8:17 p.m. near Buzz's restaurant.

A witness said that initially cars coming out of Lanikai had made an impromptu detour through Kailua Beach Park, but that a police officer later stopped that maneuver as hazardous.

The road closure was from Alala Street to South Kalaheo Avenue.
