Kaneohe Canoe Club wins sixth consecutive Hui Waa championship

Led by its youth paddlers, the Kane'ohe Canoe Club won its sixth consecutive Na 'Ohana O Na Hui Wa'a championship today.

The Hui Wa'a Championship Regatta was run today at Ke'ehi Lagoon.

Kane'ohe amassed 82 points in the 39 races of the day-long regatta. Kane'ohe was especially impressive in the youth divisions, winning eight of the 13 races.

Manu O Ke Kai placed second with 57 points, and won the prestigious men's senior race.

Waikiki Beach Boys scored 52 points to win the AA division for medium-sized clubs. The Waikiki Beach Boys also won the prestigious women's senior race to cap an undefeated season in that race.

The O'ahu Hawaiian Canoe Racing Association Championship Regatta is scheduled to run tomorrow at Ke'ehi Lagoon. The state championship regatta is scheduled for Aug. 2 at Ke'ehi Lagoon.
