Koa Anvil awards go to best in public relations

The Hawaii Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America handed out 59 honors at its 25th annual Koa Anvil awards.

The awards recognize noteworthy public relations programs and tactics and were handed out Thursday during a dinner at the Halekulani.

The Gregg W. Perry Public Relations Professional of the Year Award, an honor for exemplary work, went to Nathan K. Hokama. Hokama has more than 20 years of communication experience and has clients that include Hawaii Dental Service, Shriners Hospitals and Tesoro Corp.

Other individual award winners were Moani Wright-Van Alst, who received the Hokupaa Young PR Professional of the Year award; and Brandi Boatner, who was given the President's Leadership award.

The PRSA Hawaii/Roy Leffingwell Public Relations scholarships went to Loryn Guiffre and Kawanalaaloha Kawelo.

    Koa Hammer Awards that recognize outstanding public relations tactics were given to:
