Prosecutors today charged a 43-year-old man with robbing another man in Chinatown last night.

Larry Lopez Jr., who lists a Kahalu'u address, is being held in lieu of $30,000 bail for second-degree robbery. His initial appearance is tomorrow at District Court.

Lopez was arrested by police on Smith and North Hotel streets at 7:15 p.m. about a half hour after witnesses saw him steal items from the pants pocket of a 54-year-old man he had allegedly punched and and knocked down.

Police recovered an identification card and cash allegedly taken from the victim.

Lopez has 19 prior convictions, according to Hawai'i Criminal Justice Data Center records.
