Search finds no trace of Kauai goat hunter

Advertiser Staff

A day-long search for a 21-year-old hunter on Kaua'i was called off at dusk today and will resume tomorrow.

Cody Kimura of Lihu'e was reported missing at 11:20 p.m. after efforts by his hunting party to locate him were unsuccessful.

Police, state Department of Land & Natural Resources officers, and the Kaua'i Search and Rescue Team today searched the Sugi Grove area on foot while firefighters and rescue specialists from the Kaua'i Fire Department did an aerial search.

Kimura had gone goat hunting in Kokee with his 15-year-old brother and a male friend at 2:45 a.m. yesterday. He left them at about 9:30 a.m. to retrieve an item from their vehicle. Kimura's brother and friend said they encountered another hunting party who told them they had passed Kimura on the trail.
