HAWAI'I KAI
Family education events focus on exploring reefs

The Hanauma Bay Education Program is holding free family educational events on the fourth Saturday night of the month in July and September.

The next event, "Lei Ko'a — Exploring the Reefs that Surround our Islands," set for 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, will offer a rare glimpse of the marine life that emerges from their hiding places only at night.

Marine education specialists will offer 10-minute presentations throughout the evening that focus on nocturnal reef life. Craft activities for keiki will be held in the Hanauma Bay Visitor Center, and marine education specialists will be available at information stations on the beach to share their knowledge and provide assistance.

For more information contact the UH Sea Grant Hanauma Bay Education Program at 397-5840, hanauma@hawaii.edu, or visit www.soest.hawaii.edu/SEAGRANT/education/HBEP.
