Second bike accident reported on Fort Weaver Road

Advertiser Staff

A bicyclist has been taken to The Queen's Medical Center in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle on Fort Weaver Road early this morning, police said.

The victim is a male in his 40s, Emergency Services spokesman Bryan Cheplic said.

The accident has closed Fort Weaver Road in the north-bound direction.

Traffic is being diverted onto Keoneula Blvd, then Kapolei Parkway, then back on to Fort Weaver from either Keaunui Drive or Geiger Road, police said.

The accident occurred at 4:30 a.m. near Keaunui Drive.

It is the second of two bike/motor vehicle accidents this morning. The first, a hit-and-run, occurred on Kamehameha Highway near the Dole Plantation shortly after 1 a.m.

That accident left an 18-year-old male in critical condition. The truck that struck him was last seen heading toward the North Shore. Police said the truck should have noticeable damage to its front end.
