PUKALANI
Astronomer gives free talk for UH lecture series

David Harrington will discuss "Stellar Winds: Observing Stars from Haleakala" during a free public event at 6:30 p.m. tomorrow. His talk is part of the Maui Maikalani Community Lecture series sponsored by the University of Hawai'i Institute for Astronomy.

During the past five years, Harrington has participated in projects investigating sunspots, coronal loops and other solar phenomena, and the formation of stars. He built an instrument for the 4-meter Advanced Electro Optical System telescope and is using it to observe young stars.

Harrington will discuss his research and some of the current projects at the Haleakala observatories.

The lecture will take place at Maikalani, also known as the Advanced Technology Research Center, at 34 'Ohi'a Ku St. in the Kulamalu Town Center.
