East shores under high surf advisory

Associated Press

A high surf advisory has been issued for east-facing shores, the National Weather Service said today.

Surf will be 6 to 8 feet along east shores throughout today. Strong trade winds will make today's surf along east shores rough and choppy.

Southern shores may soon see an increase in surf from today's 3- to 5-footers, as a swell is expected to arrive later tonight.

The new south swell will peak tomorrow near advisory levels and linger through Friday.

Elsewhere, surf will be 1 to 3 feet along west and north shores.
