A 60-year-old man charged with a felony firearm after attempting to bring a revolver and ammunition into a state building on the Big Island was released last night after posting $2,000 bail.

John Gerald Saxton Haraguchi Kanekoa of Kea'au was arrested at 10 a.m. yesterday. Security at an unnamed state building saw what appeared to be the outline of a handgun while screening Kanekoa's bag. Police recovered a loaded Smith & Wesson .38 caliber revolver and 84 loose .38-caliber rounds from the bag.

Kanekoa has three prior convictions.
