Advertiser Staff

A 44-year-old woman was charged yesterday in a 61-count indictment related to the theft of more than $24,000 from her elderly Windward O'ahu employer.

Noreen Lehuanani Joaquin, 44, of Kahalu'u was employed as a housekeeper by Dorothy Kirk Frederick, 95, of Kailua from November 2006 through December 2007 when she forged and cashed 59 checks on Frederick's account, police said. Joaquin is accused of identity theft and first-degree theft in addition to 59 counts of forgery.

A $75,000 warrant was issued yesterday for Joaquin's arrest.

Joaquin was arrested April 9 by police investigating the case but was released pending further investigation after being booked.
