CFB: Ex-Penn State player pleads guilty to knife threat

Associated Press

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — Former Penn State football player Chris Bell has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of making terroristic threats.

Police said Bell in April stormed into a campus dining hall and threatened teammate Devon Still with an 8-inch knife.

Police say three assistant football coaches disarmed Bell, who was later kicked off the team.

The victim told police the incident was over a stolen cell phone case.

Bell, who is from Norfolk, Va., pleaded guilty Tuesday. Prosecutors have agreed to drop an assault charge and are asking a Centre County judge to sentence Bell to two years of probation.

He is scheduled to be sentenced Aug. 29.
