Mamma mia! Loretta Ables Sayre, co-starring in "South Pacific" on Broadway, was told a fellow Hawai'i resident wanted to come backstage to meet her after the show at Lincoln Center. "I was so surprised to open the dressing room door and see Pierce Brosnan and his wife, Keely Shaye Smith," said Ables Sayre.

Brosnan, the co-star of the new "Mamma Mia!" movie musical and several James Bond films, lives on Kaua'i, though Ables Sayre didn't know that.

"We talked about how much we love that island and where our favorite spots are," she said of her chat with the actor.

BALE SAUNTERS ON IN BATMAN TOUR

BARCELONA, Spain — Christian Bale swept into Barcelona last night to attend a glittering Spanish premiere of "The Dark Knight," appearing calm as he greeted fans a day after reports surfaced that his mother and sister have accused him of assault.

The 34-year-old greeted hundreds of fans outside the Coliseum Theater.

Bale spent half an hour signing autographs. He did not speak to reporters and made no comment about allegations that he assaulted his mother and one of his three sisters Sunday at a London hotel.

Bale said through his lawyers on Tuesday that the assault allegations were false, hours after he was arrested, questioned by London police and released. He spent four hours talking with authorities but was not charged.

JONAS BROTHERS BUY TEXAS HOME

WESTLAKE, Texas — The Jonas Brothers reportedly have bought a house in a Dallas-Fort Worth suburb — and some young neighbors sound thrilled. "Yeah, I heard they are moving into the area!" 9-year-old Emily Clark said wide-eyed at the pool at Westlake's Solana Club.

County records obtained by the Dallas Morning News indicate that the three band members granted power of attorney to their mother, Denise Jonas, to buy a $2.8 million, six-bedroom house in Vaquero, a gated community in Westlake. The documents were signed June 12.

Eldest brother Kevin, 20, was born in Dallas but grew up in New Jersey with brothers Joe, 18, and Nick, 15. They live in Los Angeles now.

NAS DETHRONES LIL WAYNE'S CD

It was Nas' day yesterday. The Brooklyn-born hip-hop artist's new CD, "Untitled," sold 187,000 copies to debut at No. 1 on Billboard's charts, pushing Lil Wayne's "Tha Carter III" to No. 2. Nas caused a ruckus in October when he announced he would title the CD with a word considered one of the most offensive to African Americans.

It wasn't all about money yesterday. Nas — whose given name, Nasir, means "helper and protector" in Arabic — also joined with MoveOn.org and ColorofChange.org to deliver a petition with 620,127 signatures to Fox News offices accusing the cable channel of racism in its coverage of Barack Obama and of African Americans. "Fox poisons the country with racist propaganda and tries to call it news," Nas said. Fox News said it "believes in all protesters exercising their right to free speech, including Nas, who has an album to promote."
