Honolulu's Tadd Fujikawa shot a 1-over-par 73 in the first round of the Nagashima Shigeo Invitational Sega Sammy Cup yesterday at Hokkaido, Japan.

The 17-year-old Moanalua High junior was eight shots behind leaders Koumei Oda and Jun Kikuchi, who both shot 65s in the Japan Golf Tour Organization tournament at The North Country Golf Club.

Fujikawa was 1-over after the front nine, birdieing the par-5 No. 3, and bogeying the par-4 No. 6 and par-3 No. 7.

He finished the back nine in even par, bogeying the par-3 No. 12 and birdieing the par-5 No. 13.

Fujikawa tied for 65th in his last JGTO event, the 2008 Munsingwear Open KSB Cup, in May. He finished 5-over-par 293 and won $2,121.68.
