Free breast exams offered at Waikiki Health Center Aug. 14

The Waikiki Health Center will host "Women's Day" from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 14 at its Ohua Avenue clinic, in celebration of National Health Center Week.

The focus of Women's Day will be breast health services and nutrition counseling. Women will receive free clinical breast exams, self-exam instruction and family planning information at Waikiki Health Center's main clinic at 277 Ohua Ave. Every woman age 40 or over will be referred to Kapiolani Breast Center for an annual screening mammogram. Women of any age who are at high-risk because of a family history of breast cancer, or where there is an abnormal finding, also will be referred to Kapiolani Breast Center.

Health center officials encourage all women age 20 and above to attend.

For more information, call 922-3776 or visit the Waikiki Health Center's website at www.waikikihc.org.

Walk-ins are welcome but appointments are encouraged.

Kapiolani Breast Center's services will be billed to women's medical insurance plans. Those without insurance will have their services paid by grants that Kapiolani Breast Center received from the Hawaii Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Program and the Hawaii Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
