Kimberly Kim falls in second round of U.S. Girls' Junior golf

Marina Alex of Wayne, N.J., defeated former Big Island resident Kimberly Kim, 2 and 1, in the second round of match play today of the U.S. Girls' Junior Championship at Hartford Golf Course in West Hartford, Conn.

Alex, 17, took a 3-up lead on Kim, 17, when she won the par-3 No. 11 with a birdie. Kim, who now lives in Arizona, closed Alex's lead to 1-up with consecutive wins on Nos. 13 and 14.

Alex won the par-3 No. 17 with a par to take the match.

The third round is being played this afternoon.
