Ryan, Ray-McWhinney win Volcano Marathon divisions

Alan Ryan of Laupahoehoe won the Volcano Marathon today on the Big Island, finishing the 26.2-mile course in 3 hours, 20 minutes and 55 seconds.

The overall female finisher was Amy Ray-McWhinney of Keaau, with a time of 4:09:29.

There are different events in the volcano runs, and the marathon and 10-mile run had different courses this year due to volcanic activity.

Luis De La Torre of Kailua, Kona won the men's 10-mile race in a time of 1:03:08. Kealakekua's Rani Tanimoto won the women's event in a time of 1:09:13.

In the 5-mile Kilauea Caldera Run, Germain Ortiz won the men's title in a time of 33:04, while Eri MacDonald of Kailua won the women's crown in 36:38.
