Mililani interchange work will close on-ramp

Advertiser Staff

The H-2 Freeway on-ramp going from the Mililani town side of Meheula Parkway heading southbound will be closed from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. tomorrow as the Department of Transportation continues a major repaving project on the Mililani interchange.

Honolulu-bound motorists are advised to use alternate routes such as Kamehameha Highway or proceed along Meheula Parkway, make a U-turn at the Ainamakua Drive intersection and use the Honolulu-bound loop on-ramp from the makai-bound lanes.

During the same hours, the sidewalk along Meheula mauka-bound will also be closed from just north of the bus stop at 1618 Meheula Parkway near Kuahelani Avenue to the freeway.

Mauka-bound pedestrians are advised to cross Meheula at the Kuahelani intersection and use the opposite-side sidewalk.

Mililani Mauka-bound lanes on Meheula Parkway will be closed across the Meheula Parkway Overpass. Mauka-bound traffic will be contraflowed using one makai-bound lane.

Electronic traffic message boards are posted in the area to notify motorists of the closure.

Motorists are advised to use caution while driving through the work areas and allow for extra travel time. Roadwork is weather-permitting.

The $16.2 million project, being done by Kiewit Pacific Co., is expected to run through December. The improvements include full pavement reconstructions at the Waipio Interchange, Mililani Interchange and Kipapa Stream Bridge. There will also be installation of a right-turn storage lane at the southbound Ka Uka Boulevard off-ramp (Exit 2) and replacement of guardrails, traffic signs, pavement markings and lane striping.
