Advertiser Staff

Several Leeward Coast beach parks will be closed at night starting next month, the city says.

City officials said the night closings are in response to requests from residents and Neighborhood Boards concerned with ensuring that the parks be kept safe and clean.

The closure dates for the following parks have been changed from July 28 to Aug. 11: Tracks; Nanakuli (Cove and Beach); Lualualei No. 2, and Pokai Bay parks. Night closure hours will be 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Plans call for Ulehawa No. 2 (the area between Nani Kai and Ma'ili across from the 7-Eleven store) to also be closed from Sept. 28 at 10 p.m. to Oct. 3 at 3 p.m. for extensive cleaning and maintenance. Starting Oct. 3, the park will close every night from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Plans also call for Lualualei No. 1 (also known as "Sewers") to be closed from Sunday, Oct. 12 at 10 p.m. to Friday, Oct. 17 at 3 p.m. for extensive cleaning and maintenance. Starting Oct. 17, the park will close every night from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
