Hawaiian icon Duke Kahanamoku is celebrated with Duke's OceanFest, a host of aquatic contests in Waikiki including the Waikiki Ocean Mile Swim on Aug. 23. 0pen to all age groups, from 14 and younger to 70 and older, the all-comers' swim is hosted by Duke's Canoe Club Waikiki at the Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach. CALLING ALL CAR LOVERS TO THE HISTORIC AUTOMOBILE RACES

Mario Andretti will be the guest of honor at this year's Rolex Monterey Historic Automobile Races, when the classic-car race celebrates its 35th anniversary. Andretti will drive some demonstration laps in his Formula One Championship-winning Lotus 79. Cars on display will include a 1938 Alfa Romeo 8C-2900B Mille Miglia Spyder, part of fashion designer Ralph Lauren's car collection. The winner of the eight-lap Toyota Race of Legends, on the final day, will earn $25,000 to be donated to the charity of his choice. Defending his 2007 win in the Monterey event will be Derek Bell of Britain, the five-time winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans race.
