Showers likely today

Advertiser Staff

Expect more showers today through tomorrow, according to the National Weather Service.

The trade winds are expected to carry showers mostly over the windward and mauka areas, but some will make it of the leeward sections of the islands, the weather service said this morning.

Throughout the week, the showers will decrease.

Overnight, rainfall has been relatively light over most of the island chain, according to the weather service. Mount Wai'ale'ale on Kaua'i recorded .39 of an inch of rain in the 12-hour period ending at 2 a.m.

A wind advisory has been issued for the Haleakala where wind speeds reached 30 mph last night. The strong winds are expected to continue at least through this afternoon and through tonight.
