Laie man accused of Waikiki purse theft

Prosecutors today charged a Lai'e man with allegedly stealing a purse from a woman in Waikiki.

Thomas L. Tuisavura, 22, is accused of second-degree theft with bail at $11,000. His initial appearance is tomorrow at District Court. Tuisavura also has two outstanding warrants of $200 and $100.

Witnesses told police the suspect snatched the purse of a 41-year-old woman waiting at a busstop Saturday at 2:40 a.m. Bystanders chased down Tuisavura and detained him for police fronting 2490 Kalakaua Ave.
