Surf: Warning remains in effect for south-facing shores

Advertiser Staff

A high surf advisory will remain in effect through at least noon today for south-facing shores of all islands, according to the National Weather Service.

The surf is expected to remain at 5 to 8 feet throughout the morning, and subside a bit to 4 to 7 feet by this afternoon.

Elsewhere on Oahu, look for surf of 5 to 8 feet this morning along west-facing shores, diminishing to 4 to 6 feet this afternoon. East-facing shores will be 5 to 7 feet while north-facing shores will see surf of 2 feet or less.

Outlook through Sunday, Aug. 3: The surf along south-facing shores produced by the current south-southwest swell will gradually subside by midweek. The east swell generated by strong trade winds will also gradually subside by midweek as the trade winds weaken to moderate levels. No other significant swells are expected.
